City of Carlsbad Honors Dick Blenden for 60 Years of Service

On September 15, 2022, the City of Carlsbad, Eddy County, New Mexico honored Dick Blenden as the outstanding citizen of Carlsbad for his 60 years of trial practice and service to the community. Mayor Dale Janway presented Dick Blenden with a plaque, proclamation from the City of Carlsbad, and designated September 15, 2022 as Dick Blenden Day. The ceremony was attended by several lawyers and judges from the 5th Judicial District which makes up Eddy, Lea, and Chaves county in Southeast New Mexico as well as dozens of people from the local community of Carlsbad. In addition, several of Dick Blenden’s clients from over the years showed up to provide their support

Dick Blenden moved to Carlsbad and began practicing as a trial lawyer in 1962. Since that time, he has helped thousands of Eddy County and Carlsbad community members with personal injury cases including wrongful death claims, catastrophic injuries resulting from trucking accidents, civil rights claims, and discrimination claims. Over the years, he secured some of the largest settlements and verdicts for personal injury and wrongful death claims, but he also prioritized his practice to handle a large percentage of pro bono cases to fight for victims who suffered tragedy or injustice.

The ceremony was attended by several lawyers and judges from the 5th Judicial District which makes up Eddy, Lea, and Chaves county in Southeast New Mexico. Mark and Drew Stout with Stout & Stout Lawyers have been friends with Dick Blenden for many years and worked on several cases together as co-counsel with him throughout both firms’ tenures.

Dick Blenden remains one of the longest serving and most accomplished trial lawyers in the State of New Mexico. To all that have known him, he has a reputation as exceptional trial lawyer, amazing storyteller, and a committed advocate to justice.
