Multiple Fatal Crashes in West Texas this August
Last weekend in West Texas, there were at least three trucking and car accident crashes that resulted in the deaths of six people.
On August 12, 2022 – A crash occurred on I-20 east of Midland near SCR 1150 in which a tractor trailer (or 18 wheeler) lost control and drove across the median into the opposing lane of traffic and struck another vehicle in head on collision. Tragically, the driver of the other vehicle died as a result of the head on collision. The deceased driver was from Lovington, New Mexico. On August 13, 2022, Odessa Law Enforcement investigated between a Honda Civic and a pedestrian near Highway 191. The vehicle struck the pedestrian while the person attempted to cross the street and tragically, the pedestrian died on scene. On August 12, four died in a Terrell County car crash in which the wreck caused three cars to catch on fire. Texas Department of Public Safety troopers attempted to stop a vehicle on US Highway 90 east of Sanderson, Texas when the vehicle sped away from the officers. The Texas DPS state troopers pursued the vehicle on US Highway 285. During the pursuit of the vehicle by the state troopers, the vehicle drove into the opposite lane of travel on Highway 285 and struck a Ford F-150 pickup truck head on. The driver and passenger of the fleeing vehicle died in the head on collision. Tragically, the driver and passenger of the Ford F-150 pickup truck died in the head on collision. A third vehicle struck the wreck and crash debris, and all three vehicles involved in the crash caught fire and burned.
